An eye for the details.
Florence · November 2015

One frame from an earlier chapter: Florence, November 2015. The cathedral fills the view with marble, pattern and the curve of its dome.
There is almost too much to take in at once. The eye moves from the geometric surface of the facade to the carved detail, then up toward the dome. The surrounding streets leave only a narrow margin around it.
The people at street level keep the photograph grounded. Architecture may be the subject, but the picture also holds a small, ordinary moment beneath it.
This image comes from the early years of the collection. It is kept here as a reminder that an archive does not have to be made of grand panoramas. Sometimes a single street view brings a whole place back into focus.
Stay a little longer.
